Reporting to the President or Operations Manager, this role is responsible for the repair, service and installation of commercial and industrial overhead and high-speed doors and loading dock equipment including dock levelers, truck locks, bumpers and dock seals, equipment, etc.

Pre-requisites of the Job

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience of installation and servicing of commercial/industrial overhead doors and loading docks
  • Knowledge and experience trouble shooting, repairing, maintaining and installing
  • Experience administering preventative maintenance programs for commercial/industrial overhead doors and loading docks
  • Knowledgeable and experienced using power and hand tools
  • Able to work outdoors in all seasons and able to lift and carry 50-100 lbs., climb on ladders and complete any other installation activities as required (job can be very physical);
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and a clean driving record
  • Must be comfortable working on ladders and at heights

Job Responsibilities – This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions:

  • Installation and Repair: installing, troubleshooting/diagnosis and repair of commercial/industrial overhead doors, loading docks, and related equipment, make repairs in accordance with equipment manufacturers, problem solving
  • Customer service: visiting assigned commercial customers to identify needs and present options for repair and new business, presenting quotes (door type, opener, other features); provide excellent customer service and be able to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers
  • Productivity: manage your time effectively while traveling in service truck from job site to job site
  • Leadership: Own supervision, supervise and train apprentices and coworkers as required
  • Truck maintenance, service inventory
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Mechanical aptitude and must be proficient with electrical, hydraulic, arc welding and using oxy-acetylene cutters
  • WHIMIS, Working at Heights training required; IDC certification an asset
  • Experience with overhead doors and commercial high-speed doors, as well as knowledge of door and operator types
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple/competing tasks and ensure deadlines are met
